Throughout Mr. Stump’s career investing in the middle market, he has worked across various industries, including; aerospace, automotive, business and consumer services, consumer products, defense, environmental remediation, financial services, healthcare, niche-manufacturing, and specialty chemicals, among others.

Prior to joining Lightspring, Mr. Stump spent over nine years at Merit Capital Partners, a middle market private equity firm focused on investing both equity and subordinated debt in control and non-control transactions throughout the middle market. Mr. Stump was focused on deal sourcing, execution, and investment monitoring, among others. Before joining Merit, Mr. Stump worked in Fifth Third Bank’s Structured Finance Group, specializing in sponsor leveraged finance in the middle market. Prior to the Structured Finance Group, Mr. Stump was a commercial lender within Fifth Third Bank’s Middle Market Commercial Lending division. Throughout Mr. Stump’s career investing in the middle market, he has worked across various industries, including; aerospace, automotive, business and consumer services, consumer products, defense, environmental remediation, financial services, healthcare, niche-manufacturing, and specialty chemicals, among others.

Mr. Stump received an M.B.A., with honors, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and his B.S. in Finance from Butler University, where he played NCAA Division I-AA collegiate football.

Mr. Stump is actively involved as President of the Board of Directors of The Boulevard of Chicago (formerly Interfaith House), a Chicago non-profit organization located on Chicago’s West Side that provides interim housing and care to ill and injured homeless individuals. Mr. Stump also is currently on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Association of Private Equity Executives (Capex) and is frequent guest lecturer at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
